Need help on club car DS

2005 club car ds 48v with Scotty upgrades. Headlights have always been an issue with this cart, so I bough a voltage reducer and followed the instructions.. tightened up the positive and negative and lights don’t work.. hit the gas petal and I hear what sounded like a short circuit from the wire and see a little smoke.. the solenoid doesn’t fire off now and nothing works.. any ideas what could have happened? Thanks I’m advance

Need a lot more info. Sepex or Series? What upgrades? What Voltage Reducer?? Pics??
