the bottom 2 pads on the vglide are dead , you might be able to move things around and get a fix...

and yours is really an 88 model , as far as the wiring anyway...

Can you post a photo of what you are talking about?

Apologies for the image quality (edit: and image size. Using Imgur, not sure why it's so large) but here you go. And, many thanks to all for the input.

I've done a bit more looking and it seems as if I only need the wiper arm and maybe the brush. Does this jive?

cant tell from that pic , did it just break or did it get hot and melt a little ?....

if the wiper arm does not go all the way to the top pad , or you drive it at less than wide open for too long , they get hot .... very hot ...

Yes. I wasn't sure if there might have been a few 87's that years end that came this way. But the parts are 88 and up.

I can't wrap my head around that pic either, but something is burnt/broken.

Sorry folks, that's a very poor pic.

As far as I understand the terminology and as best as I can ascertain, the wiper arm broke just below where the wire connects. Much simpler than I initially made it out but it explains the lack of power as well as the sticky throttle (the broken component was stuck at the "bottom" of the vglide and catching on the wiper as it moved.)

So I've ordered a new wiper arm and we'll see if that as far as the problems go. Thanks again to everyone for their input.

As an aside, I've often wondered why there is an extra switch that seems to add an extra bit of power when on. I believe it's connected to another solenoid over the rear passenger wheel well. At one point, the wires fell onto the resistors and melted and it was quite noticeable not having that extra bit of oomph. Anyone know what this is?

take some pics (normal size please) but somebody may have done a vglide bypass when its wide open throttle ....

if thats what it is , you can do away with it and wire it like the diagram....
it does not make it go any faster , just reroutes the current...
