Default Ezgo Series Controller Test?

I have a 36 volt 98 ezgo txt series and a few weeks ago my motors brushes went out while driving, I had to tow it home. I've been told that it is possible that the motor took out the controller with it, so can someone tell me how to test the controller before I buy a new motor? Thanks!

Not only is it possible, a motor failing during operation often does take out the controller.
I know, it happened to me.

Disconnect all the cables going to the motor and insulate them so they don't touch each other or anything else.
Connect a 120VAC 100W incandescent lightbulb (or three 12V bulbs in series) between the controller's M- and B+ terminals.
Push the pedal just far enough for the solenoid to click and the voltage across the lightbulb should be about Zero volts DC.
Slowly push the pedal to the floor and the voltage out to smoothly increase to full pack voltage.

Yes it is a stock controller. is there any way to test it without using the lightbulbs? Can i just use my multimeter?

You need to put some sort of load on the controller to test it and his motor was screwed up, so I suggested light bulbs.

If the motor is intact, the voltmeter trick works.
