Re: RXV Mods
Well like I said I have no bias or favorites. What I have done and I think you will like this is I bought a donor G29. I will wreck out the electrical which is toast and why I got it so cheap. I will go back in with a HPEV AC-9 motor, Curtis 1238 controller and 840 display I can get used from a dealer I know and trust.
The motor will be a drop in replacement, but most of the wiring has to be redone or I should say re-routed to a new plug for the controller. As for batteries I am up in the air about. Or I may just sell the G-29 as is for what I gave for it and buy a new EZGO 2Five with golf package from the local dealer around here who seems to be less in price than DFW area dealers and will do speed modifications if asked for minimum charge. Software is free, gears and tires they charge for. Gotta figure out how much work I really want to do. Price comes out to about the same either way. If I build will not be able to title vehicle but that is not a problem where I live to drive on the roads as they are private. With a new 2Five Iget a warranty and could title if I wish which would make it a better resale deal if I should sale it later. Wheels are still spinning. |

Re: RXV Mods
Either way sounds good. Guess it depends on how much labor you want to do. Warranty is good to have. Yamaha just put a complete transaxle in mine under warranty.

Re: RXV Mods
New transaxle in a 2013? What was wrong with it? I have seen zero failures since the "white tag" axle was replaced on the assembly line by the "yellow tag" axle.

Re: RXV Mods
Cg---as I posted a while ago, there was a minor oil leak at the driver's axle bearing. There was also an intermittent low volume metal on metal scraping noise coming from center of transaxle. Noise would come and go. Noise did not increase with speed, coasting, or braking. Axle spacers were not loose and hub torque was checked. Techs at the dealership (sounded like they knew their stuff) checked it out and called Yamaha while I checked out the showroom. Service manager came in to tell me Yamaha had decided to send out a complete new unit. Since the techs are not going to split the case, I will never know what the scraping noise was. My guess is Yamaha figured it cheaper and easier to R&R the whole unit.
