Re: yamaha g2 engine help
Pull the rod out and check for straightness and breakage. Some engines the rod can fall down in there I don't recall with this, but you may have to put the rod back in the lifter it sets in, then install/adjust the rocker. Otherwise something is broken in the cam or lifter but its not common.

Re: yamaha g2 engine help
Get a flashlight and look down in there you should see the lifter that rides on the cam. Get the rod sitting in it for sure like the other side, then turn it over and check for movement up down, should see it move even if you are holding it in by hand, it will move when the cam pushes it up just like the other pushrod, at a different time of course. If nothing you will have to pull it apart or swap to a BB.

Re: yamaha g2 engine help
Either the cam broke or the lifter maybe, can't say I've ever heard of that on yamaha cart engine. Have heard of the balance shaft breaking. Its only 15min to pull the engine and take the side cover off, you can see everything. I would just to see what is up in there. Sometimes the lobe on a cam will wear off if the hardening fails, but it would run progressively worse as it happened.
