Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
As low as your belt is in the secondary, get a belt too.

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
A spacer/new style spring seat and a new sliding sheave (they have a zerk fitting for greasing without disassebly) and a new drive belt. In my opinion, those "white troque springs" are just to stiff for my liking, but many members like them. Good luck with your build.

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
Those are the parts you need! Yes the big springs can be too much, up to you. You may have to find a dealer or ebay to get a umax if you want to try one. I also love my HD kevlar belt from CPP but one in kit seems to be a different belt. You likely will have to strap the clutch together to get it on there with a big spring, be prepared.
If your nut is not in the best shape you should replace it. People have had issues with them when using big springs. They come off or come loose. |

Thanks again all. I ordered the kit and the helix and it should arrive Wednesday. I should have it installed later that night if all goes well. Thanks again!!

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
I got the new rear clutch on. With the governor all the way in it was hitting the rev limiter. I adjusted the governor back to stock. I took it for a drive and this is a lot slower than my old g1. I looked at the primary clutch and its only engaging half way. Is this common with secondary clutches?

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
No, it should go right to the top. Did you pop the cover on the primary and make sure all the weights and links are good? Unless you have the wrong belt or something I'd say if the primary is good then the secondary spring you have is not good.

Re: Yamaha g2 issues going uphill
With the drive belt removed, did the primary (front) clutch slide in & out easily & smoothly? Also, can you post a few pics of the secondary clutch now that the work is done on it.
