i have a g16 was wondering if it is common for the valves to be out of adjustment on these models, or should i take the valve cover off and check them anyways?

Re: valve adjustment
Not common to cause troubles like the Ezgo Robin engine, but still should be checked every so often. I have never noticed a big improvement by just setting the valves, but they are not usually too far off to begin with (not true with the Ezgo Robin, they are often "off" enough to loose performance). My "trained ear" (LOL) can spot a yami that could benefit from a valve adjust by the clackity-clackity sound. Overall, valvetrain is not a trouble area on a yamaha.
