G16 clocking secondary clutch
G16 with umax spring in B-4 setting clocked slightly to next tooth should it go one more.
when taking off it tends to wind up a bit before shifting faster no gain in torque bottom end from standing start but you can feel a mid range pull |

Re: G16 clocking secondary clutch
On G16/G22's I recommend B-3. Hard to explain, but once you start pre load it needs to be turned almost a 1/4 turn. Umax spring should give you more torque (if both cltch's and belt are good), you can lose some top end though.

Re: G16 clocking secondary clutch
Re set to b-3 still sluggish on bottom end and takes a bit to find the torque also feels almost like a brake is activated when let of the gas and coast

Re: G16 clocking secondary clutch
Sounds like it's to tight and not shifting up so when to take your foot off of the gas -- it's like in second gear and slows right down. When you started "tuning" your clutch pack -- did you at least start with a new belt? I'd go back to the beginning and start with a new belt -- making sure all your adjustments are correct and your "torque strap" is set properly.

Re: G16 clocking secondary clutch
So, are the brakes draging?? Also, the clutch and belt need to break in before top performance is reached!!
What's your top speed?? Very close to 30 MPH is very good!! |

Re: G16 clocking secondary clutch
no on brakes dragging I loosened them off to test GPS it gets to 10mph before you feel torque kick in if going from a stand still with no gas top is 19 with stock tires, the belt isnt old and still at spec width is an OE belt i can see light wearing on sides so i am going to order another, thinking of going HD to see if it helps.

Re: G16 clocking secondary clutch
Golf carts don't coast well at all. Post a pic of ramp shoes unless they are new. Did you check for flat spots on rollers in primary clutch?
And my experience, set preload over just one ramp, not two on secondary sheave!! Ramps on secondary sheave need to be smooth. Like in this pic!! |

Re: G16 clocking secondary clutch
If the secondary sheave has metal to metal wear, it's shot and needs replacing. Unless you can smooth all 3 ramps , and have the same clearance. Otherwise 2 ramps will carry more load than the third. That will put more stress on the bushings, and create accelerated wear. If that doesn't bother you, take the cheaper way out!!
