If the battery is in good condition and has enough CCA and Reserve,it will hardly make any difference since the battery will absorb the load fairly easy.If the battery is weak or undersized,then yes it will tax the charging-system.The reserve on the battery is very important,since this helps the battery maintain power while it is being recharged by the generator.I run a regular car-battery in the 650-750cca range in my carts,and run lights and for a while I had a stereo in it as well.Never had any trouble in 3yrs.since I set it up.I use 2 of the Halogen work-lights that guys use a back-up lites on plow-trucks,they draw almost 10amps each.I'm switching to 2 dual-halogens that draw 9.8amps each.Mine is run direct from the battery to a switch,to the lites,but I don't have anything else on the cart other than the engine electricals.Hope this helps.
