1986 EZ Go Back Firing

seems to look good..all i can say it call tom at cartpartsplus.com and tell him what you want and he prob has a spring for it..unless your just not gonna get the power you expect from the 2 stroke..when mine was 2 stroke it took off rather slow becasue of the 22 inch tires but when wound up it would get up to 22-23 mph..
if you really want it to run good and cheap and be done with it,if your like most us guys and want more power,you would be happy happy with a 420cc harbor freight clone..it is really bad azz with the few simple mods ive done..its runs so good we hardly ever go over 3000 rpm and thats about 23mph i was told..but i do mash on it now and then and get it to 4200 rpm but thats pretty dang fast on a dirt road with the wife

but you would need a for/rev rear end to have a clone engine..

The belt is a Dayco HP3004. It's 1-3/16" wide.

I'm guessing that the old stock belt did not get sucked in at higher speeds like the shorter belt? If that is the case, the shorter belt is going too far down into the secondary sheaves and getting into the 'verticle' wall of the sheaves. That will cause the belt to rotate. Was the oringinal, stock length belt doing this?

Some style clutches will have that problem. Put the original belt back on it, and install a stiffer spring in the secondary clutch. That will help it backshift earlier when pulling a hill. Backshifting will delivery more torque to the rear wheel. Some guys here will shim the spring, but I don't recommend it. You can do it for testing purposes though.
