Default Club Car DS 2002 48v

I recently purchased a 2002 Club Car DS 48v and it has 6 8v batteries in it. It also has the F/R lever by my legs. The cart sometimes will go full speed if I start from a dead stop, then push the gas pedal down to the floor fast. If I try and gradually push it, it goes very slow even with the pedal to the floor. It also barely goes in reverse. I replaced the MCOR with the MCOR4 retrofit kit and it didn’t help at all. I know the batteries and cables are good, because they were just replaced last week. But like I said, as long as I mash the pedal, it’ll go full speed, it if I try and slowly do it, or if I let my foot off the throttle and reapply it, it goes slow. Thanks for any help!

When you say F/R handle you mean the FNR Lever and not the Fwd/Rev Rocker switch, correct?

Want to make sure this is a Series cart.....

Yes, it’s the F/N/R handle, not the switch.

As far as I know, there’s nothing that senses the speed on this model, right? Leads me to think that there might be a problem with the motor, because the car will go fast and maintain speed as long as I am applying full throttle, but once I release the throttle at all, then reapply, it slows down

That is correct.

And your description sounds like a bad potentiometer in the MCOR. Since you just replaced it, that would be odd, unless it is junk out the box. Where did you purchase it?

I thought the same, so that’s why I replaced MCOR. It doesn’t make sense though, because every time I start from a complete stop, and mash the throttle, the car goes really fast and will maintain that speed until I let off the throttle. Once I reapply throttle, while the car is still moving, it goes slow. Also, if I start from a complete stop, but don’t mash the throttle, it won’t go fast regardless if I push the throttle to the floor. The MCOR has no way of knowing if the car is moving or not, so I’m not sure that is the problem.

Where did you purchase it as we have had numerous ones bad right out the box that were imported clones from China. Not the OEM specs.

You can try this to test it: With the batteries connected, place the black (–) probe on packs main Negative post and the red (+) probe on the yellow wire at the 3-pin connector near the MCOR. (The reading should be approximately ~0.32vdc to ~0.5vdc with the pedal up). Slowly press the Go Pedal and the readings should increase until it reaches ~4.65vdc or more when the pedal is fully pressed. (Anything less than 4.60vdc and you are not reaching full throttle). If the reading is erratic or jumps all over the place it is a bad MCOR potentiometer..... Get an OEM one here https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/mcors

Not sure, it came with the cart. It was a kit, that had the MCOR, wiring harness, and a mounting bracket.
