Thank you! Buzzer still there, reconnected wire and verified it works. Unable to test as it monsooned again. I think the heat theory is right. 95 degrees plus good sized load and constant motion probably set it off. Will test as soon as I can.

Just an update: the problem has yet to resurface. We have taken it on a few longer rides, and even took it camping this weekend - so i guess no news is good news!

Update: to date this issue has not returned. Must have been heat and load.
