Default 2008 PDS 36 to 48 volt Charger

Its almost battery time and i'm committed to go to 48 volts.

I have the XCT400 controller installed.

People are having issues with the charging receptacle swap with the RXV 48 volt.

Why not use the TXT 2 wire Notch type for 48 volts which looks like a 1 for 1 swap.

looking for reasons to go either way with the charger and receptacle.

also have been researching wiring kits for 48 volt. I see 4 awg all day but 2 awg seems scarce. I currently have 2 awg for the 36 volt.

I really, really think cobra meant carts unlimited. Right, Cobra?

The one he mentioned is not a site sponsor. I don’t know the history, but it’s a four letter word around here.

When I converted my TXT to 48v 5+ years ago, I just got a 48v charger with the standard EZGO DC cord end. At the time it never occurred to me to change the charger receptacle. I think the reason to change it is to avoid someone plugging a 36v charger into a 48v cart. This isn't an issue for me as the cart is never charged anywhere else besides its home.

48v uses less amperage than 36v to run and to charge. The 36v charge receptacle is quite capable of handling the lower amperage higher voltage 48v charge current. Simply get the best 48v smart charger with a 36v D plug on it.

"People are having issues with the charging receptacle swap with the RXV 48 volt."

Really? Who? Anyone who asks how it's done gets a simple answer that works. And plugging a 36v charger into a 48v cart isn't dangerous (and isn't gonna charge your 48v cart). The dangerous situation would be a 48v charger with the 36v plug accidentally getting plugged into a 36v cart. If the 48v charger were to activate on 36v batteries, that could be a fire danger.

I'm gonna change the receptacle

Is the TXT notch type just to outdated and the RXV is now more common i see some chargers only seem to offer the RXV style

Thanks again orageman6 I found the cables

So if I get a DPI charger and a 48 volt RXV/TXT receptacle the receptacle only needs B+ and B-. the other 2 wires on the receptacle are useless
