Default EZGO TXT cart not moving, saw smoke

BGW-

I got a used EZGO TXT several months ago, serial plate is gone so I don't know the exact year, but it's an older "series" model. It needed new batteries, which we installed. Also put in new charger wiring and new ignition. The cart had been working fine since then. Go to use it the other day and the solenoid would just "click," but no movement. I tested the solenoid and determined it was bad, so I got a new one. We hooked everything up as it was and when we turned the key, stepped on the throttle, there was a small "buzz" and then a puff of smoke from the solenoid area. I'm not sure what it was that smoked though. I checked the diode and resistor, neither is melted. Checked all the wiring for the motors and controller, nothing melted. Checked the micro switches on the direction selector and they aren't melted either. I've searched the forums and can't seem to find the same exact situation as mine. At this point I'm at a loss as to what could be causing the issue. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Dan

Could be the controller smoked. Put your nose on it and sniff. There is a very distinctive burnt electrical smell emitted when they go poof. That smell hangs around for weeks on end

Lol, I once threw a dead Alltrax in the bed of a coworkers truck to see how long until they figured it out. It took one day.

Once the smoke is let out of the controller the controller won't work anymore. All electronics have magic smoke inside them.

I did lose the magic smoke out of a brand new PDS controller recently... And it definitely has a distinctive smell... smells like a wasted $400 bill
