Brand new cart help needed.
Good morning,
Tomorrow I take delivery on my first cart ever ( RXV 4 seater) for my vacation home in North Carolina. We go there every 5 or 6 weeks or so.....My question is what do I do with the battery when not there ? Leaver it plug in ? Unplug it? Disconnect ? or something else? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Brand new cart help needed.
Most chargers just charge your cart one time only leaving it plugged in doesn't get you any more charges. You must physically remove charging plug from cart and plug it back in to get it to charge again.
Now the new DPI chargers can maintain your batteries while your gone and keep them charged. No need to remove the charging plug to get it to charge again. You can be gone a month, two months or whatever and they will keep your battery pack charged. When you return your cart will be ready to go. Made in the USA also. |

Re: Brand new cart help needed.
But be careful which one you order – some of the new ones removed the float charge ability!

Re: Brand new cart help needed.
Yes your new cart will come with a charger. It will almost certainly be an "automatic charger" it will run 1 cycle & shut itself off when it's done. There are other aftermarket units that are "smart chargers" - capable of not only turning themselves off when they are done, but periodically checking the status of the battery pack and turning back ON to top off the charge as needed. Then there are cheap 1 or 2 amp float chargers that are intended to stay running constantly to prevent losing charge over time. I personally don't care for those, but some opinions may differ.
If you are there every 5 or 6 weeks you should be fine with the charger that comes with it. Plug it in as you are leaving. Upon your return unplug it for a moment, then plug it back in to top off the charge again. Should be fine. Last edited by meimk; 11-04-2019 at 07:15 AM.. Reason: additional info |

Can I use a smart plug? Or do you have to physically unplug from the cart?

Re: Brand new cart help needed.
If it comes with the yellow QuiQ charger, you should be lucky. My QuiQ will start a charge cycle by unplugging tie 110v power and re plugging. A timer should do the job for you if that is the charger you get with the cart.
