Default Sepex Motor in a series cart

I had an earlier post about having trouble with a 99 EZGO txt series cart running on the ground. Would only run on jack stands. Well after an entire day of swapping things out, tracking wires, testing voltage, and reading numerous forum posts I found out I have a sepex motor in my series cart. What are the steps to do now? Is the easiest fix to just replace it with the correct motor? Or is there any other ways I can do it to make it work. Thanks for any help!!!

That motor won't ever work right, will have to be replaced. Take that motor to a local cart shop, maybe they will trade you for a stock series motor that you can use to get it going.

I am curious, how did you figure out it was sepex?

There were some sepex motors that had the terminals labeled the same as the NEMA standard nomenclature for series motors. I ran into that once.

Rockford, I spent about 3 hours reading through this forum and soaking up as much Johnnie info as I could on sepex motors. It has the F terminals as well as the F terminals being smaller then the A terminals. I also googled the old part number and it came back as sepex from what I could find. It’s also weird the motor is labeled built in 2000 and the carts a 99. Not sure how it all got switched around but that’s what happens when you’re buying carts that don’t run I guess!!

Timberwolf, I was thinking about that but also trying to figure out what all had to be switched over and what the cost might be. These carts were all bought not running and are just flip carts. But I am interested in what all would have to be done to convert it! Any info would be great! Thanks!

If you already have a good motor all you need is a controller and a wiring harness. Gets rid of the manual fnr switch and replaces it with a toggle. More speed and less parts.

Series drive to Sepex. Sepex controller, complete wiring harness, Run/Tow switch and F/R switch, plus a speed sensor if it has been removed from the motor you have.

Thanks Johnnieb, I just went to put the controller and F&R switch back in the other cart that was running before I tried them out in the other cart. Now it won’t run, you think that sepex motor fried the controller?

If you'd been running the sepex motor with a series controller, it might have been damaged and and subsequently damaged the sepex controller.

What was make/model of the sepex controller?
