36V H1086 Marathon schematic
Looking for a schematic for my Marathon SN412234, MFG Code H1086. From my decoder ring I think that means 10JAN1986, but not 100% sure. I have found many schematics but none describe what I see. Someone in the shop has been messing around with the connections to the motor and now I need to straighten it out. Thanks. John

Re: 36V H1086 Marathon schematic
Here are the four schematics I have for resistor drives. As far as I can tell they are electrically the same, just drawn differently.
Also, here's a service manual for '86.5 - '87. I don't have one for early '86, but the main difference is the motor location. Early 86 had the motor between the batteries and late '86 had the motor sideways over the axle. |

Re: 36V H1086 Marathon schematic
Thanks for the help. If I can identify the terminals on the motor, I think this will do it! Time to get underneath it.

Re: 36V H1086 Marathon schematic
The studs that go through the motor's end cap connect to the armature via the brushes and are labeled A1 & A2 on the schematics.
The studs that go through the motor case connect to the field windings (aka Stator) and are labeled S1 & S2 or F1 & F2 on the schematics. |

Re: 36V H1086 Marathon schematic
It seems there are many variations both in the schematic and the hardware. The motor on my mine has 4 studs that go through the side of the case. No studs on the end cap. I think the wires going from the coil to the motor are not connected properly. Maybe I just need to clean the motor case really well to find the post labels. Are the markings stamped into the case or were there possibly stickers identifying the posts that are no longer there? The posts are on the bottom of the motor whereas some drawings I've seen show them on the top of the case. Any tricks you have to make sure I properly identify the post would be appreciated. Thanks, John

Re: 36V H1086 Marathon schematic
Is the motor in front of the differential or sideways on top of axle?
If possible, post pictures of motor using the paperclip on the advanced screen to attach them to your post. |

Re: 36V H1086 Marathon schematic
just attached a couple pics. Also I noted in picture the motor is stamped with the post function so I'll double check that on all

Re: 36V H1086 Marathon schematic
You motor is mounted above the axle and the differential has a split case, so your cart is a 86.5 or 87 model year. The date code of H1086, indicates it was made in Oct-86. (BTW: The 4 wheel version is an X-444 while the three wheel is a X-440)
Here are a parts manual and an Owner/Service manual. The motor studs are identified on the power wiring drawing on page BB-1 in the parts and H-1 in the service. |
