If you change the gear set from the stock 12.77:1 to a 15:1 ratio (high torque), you'll gain back approximately 18% of the original torque, but this will come at a cost of the speed dropping back closer to stock.
Im glad you had those numbers,as thats exactly my point. Why then spend the extra cash changing everything out when you can get by for less? Dont get me wrong, some will not be happy with stock specifications and performance, thats fine. However, I just want more ground clearance and the look that comes with taller wheel and tire combo. The cost of that upgrade seems to be increased mph, but loss in torque and as some have mentioned over heating. Well if we only change the gears in the rear end, we save a bunch of money, but we settle for stock performance. Thats ok with me as my buggy will look cool and still accomplish what I want. Then when I get bored, I can shell out the extra cash for greater performance. Right?

right now with 23 inch tires and stock gears he gets more speed but less torque.
If he upgrades the gears he'll get most of his torque back but lose his speed.

if he later upgrades the wires, FNR, controller will he gain speed and torque or just gain more torque.
