Default 2011 RXV LED headlights but brakelights dont work.

Hi All,

I will try to keep it short, but it is an inherently long stony and I an inherently long winded guy. The cart has LED tailighs and two sets of LED headlights. One set is in the factory location, and the other set is like an LED lightbar. There are also two light switches. One turns on just the light bar mounted in the lower bumper, and the other turns on the factory headlights and taillights. However, when you press the brakes, it doesn't affect the taillights at all. The cart is my dads, and when I follow him around I keep almost smashing into him with my cart, so we need to get this fixed. We pulled off the connector to the tail lights and there are 4 wires. One is ground, and the other three are hot coming from the cart, when you turn on one of the headlight switches. One of the 3 hot ones has been cut on the light side of the plug.

Has anyone else run into anything similar?

Does anyone have a factory light harness wiring diagram for these carts?

The kit looks similar to this. http://www.candccustomsinc.com/e-z-g...t-bar-kit.html

That might even be the kit. It came with the cart.

Thanks,
Josh

Not every light kit comes with BRAKE lights.

Unless the kit had a brake light switch or relay, it might just be a light kit.

kit you referenced has brake lights as add on.

We pulled up the floor panels and there is a brake switch assembly in the floor.

The brake lights are controlled by the motor controller on the factory light harness. When the controller detects more than 3 percent brake pedal activation, (yes, it knows just where the brake pedal is), it activates the brake light relay circuit, the two loose unused wires under the cupholders. If you use this circuit, be warned it will require a relay (controller not able to drive lights directly), and the relay is going to operate at higher than 12v, pack voltage i think.

Do you have a wire diagram or pictures? I don't remember seeing any loose unused wires under the cup holders. I will have to go over to my dad's house and take a look.

Look in stickies.

There are 2 electrical components in a RXV pedal box.

One component is throttle position sensor.
The other is brake switch.

If those are the only 2 electrical pieces, And you have an aftermarket light kit,
you probably do not have the brake light option.

I am a little lost on this. So what other electrical piece would I need to make this light kit work with my brakes?
