Default Controller Upgraded Now What Solenoid

Hello All,
I'm new to the site and have a question, hoping someone could help me out.

I just purchased a '91 EZGO electric golf cart. 36v

It was initially having trouble going up hills, so I had a local repair guy come out and take a look. He tested the batteries and the charger, which turned out to be fine. He mentioned the controller could be going bad, so I sent my Curtis(1204-009) 275amp controller to FSIP for rebuild and upgrade to 400amp. I didn't see a noticeable change. Now I'm wondering if I should have replaced the solenoid.

Can anyone recommend a solenoid for the newly upgraded 400 amp controller?

Thanks in advance.

you should have seen a about a 30% improvement in torque. Scottyb @ Carts Unlimited is the man to call. He can address the rest of your needs once you tell him what your overall objective is. After a run with your new 400 amp controller is solenoid warm or are your cables warm? Could be loosing some 'juice' to resistance here. You do need a bigger solenoid - an HD Solenoid (400 amp continuous, 1000 amp peak is what I would do. also consider upgrading cables everywhere if you only have 6 gauge. Again Scottyb is your man and or talk to Plumquick about a motor rebuild for additional torque and speed.

Hi Josh, I use a 200a solenoid with this size control. We have em on sale right now for $59 with the resistor and diode you need.

Thanks All! Scottyb, is this the solenoid you recommend? I see it's $57. See attached image
