81- 01 club car conversion
Alright guys new here I had one other post but I'm starting a "build" page so to speak. It all started when my dads neightbor offered his old 81 cc to me for $100. So I picked it up and realized that I most likely was going to want to upgrade to solid state. Then a few days later I'm browsing my local fb market place and up pops a 01 cc for 200 so I go and check it out and it was beat up pretty bad but I knew at the least I could take my decent shape 81 to 48v so needless to say I grabbed it and now I'm hooked! I can already see this thing down the road with some more amperage and what not. Anyways here are some pics of what I'm starting with. Any recommendations amd criticism is always welcome.

Got all drive components out of the 01 and started to do some cleaning. Everything is looking to be intact

You're going to love that 36v. motor being fed 48 volts.

Re: 81- 01 club car conversion
Finally! Another '81 man!!! They are not the first choice to upgrade but hey a challenge has it's rewards. As you probably already know the 81 rear end is fine stock but does not like huge power boosts. The motor is a complete [2 bearing] unit and no real upgrades are available. the Ross steering box is prone to wear [after 35 years] but the rack unit and attached components from your donor will bolt right in! That's what I did on mine but had no cheap donor cart, lucky you! Electronics swaps are doable if you want to go that route or upgrade to an more powerful "supply valve". You can chalk up the build/experience to "the road less traveled!" DO keep us posted!

Re: 81- 01 club car conversion
Ok so I got everything over to the other cart and I'm having some trouble now. It will not run. I have good voltage across the pack solenoid clicks when I hit the go pedal. Reverse buzzer is on in forward and N only. I repeat reverse buzzer stays on untill I put it in reverse. There were a few broke wires that I hooked up where I thought they should go. I suppose I need to go through that. Anyone have ideas what this could be?

Subscribed, looks like a fun build! As far as your no-go situation, triple check your wiring diagram...

Re: 81- 01 club car conversion
I know you don't want to put a bunch of money into this, but buying a DPI charger and wiring this like a 36v. controller conversion would be simpler.

Re: 81- 01 club car conversion
Do I understand that it is safe to put 48 volts into a 36 volt system?
