Default 1996 EZGO Airport cart (handicap)

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a 96 EZGO 36v that was used at the airport... this thing is heavily modified and a lot of engineering went into it. This is my 2nd EZGO in the last 6 months so I am still learning.

If anyone sees anything interesting in these pictures please point it out... my goal with it is to paint it and install a tow hitch in the back with majority of the rear cut off.. and utilize the hydraulics it has to raise and lower the trailer that I am moving around.

The cart is in excellent condition for a 96. However it goes really slow.. don't know if its limited to be slower or if because its so heavy it just is slow. It has some heavy duty rear struts, hydraulic brakes, and all kind of little things on it... I think for a grand it was a good purchase.. let me know what everyone thinks and also if anyone can point out if the batteries it has are good.. cannot find them on google. Also if anyone has any idea on why it might be slow (5 mph) feel free to chime in..

Thanks for viewing and I'll keep updating the thread as I go

That thing is built like a tank. Could be the motor is regulated to a low speed. Running at over 5mph in an airport terminal could create more handicapped people.

Looks like a lot of counter weight on the front end to compensate for the added rear length and what would be added weight with a passenger back there.

NICE FIND!! and certainly a great price! the batteries....obviously they are TROJANS....look at the top of the battery posts and they will be stamped with a 2 digit date code.....that will give you an idea of how old they are. First digit (alpha code: A= Jan, B=Feb., etc) Second Digit is Year made. Example: B7 = February 2007 OR 2017.

ITs very obviously a SERIEs Drive system (se the F&R switch in post #4). which controller you actually have can tell you a lot....what you have isn't what you would NORMALLY see in a stock cart. it looks to be a FISP brand, and may be programmable, you would be able to tell us a little more about it if you can give us more info off of the name plate data of the controller.

The controller appears to be a Curtis 1204 24-36v, 400amp controller. It is mounted on a standard EZGO mount for this controller. The data plate is on the end facing down so you have to remove it to see it. The solenoid is probably a White Rogers 200/100 amp unit commonly used by EZGO with this controller.
As said, this is a series cart. I don't know how they have restricted the speed to 5mph.
