Default stay 36v or go 48v?

So my 36v txt needs new batteries, I definitely don't want to have to put two 6v batteries in the back so my question is, Stay 36v with new Trojans? or go 48v with 6 8v Trojans? I'll be buying a new alltrax controller anyways so assuming that wont make a difference in cost what am I gaining by upgrading to 48v? Im not too concerned with run time as I never go on long trips.
Is there that much of a power difference with 48v?
Will 6 6v batteries have a longer life than 6 8v batteries?
Thanks!

Is 48v worth the upgrade over 36v ? The answer is YES YES DEFINITELY YES.

Let me first point out that nobody even makes a 36v cart anymore.

48v produces more power, more rpm(speed),more efficiently than 36 volts.

As Scotty said, go to 48V.

It will cost more to go to 48V than staying with 36V because you'll have to get a 48V charger. Also, if you go 6x8V, you'll probably need some new interconnecting cables for the batteries. 8V batteries have both post on same side, so longer interconnecting cables are needed.

As for run-time or range, six 8V-170AH batteries store roughly the same energy as six 6V-225AH batteries, so run-time will be about the same either way.

48V will give you about 33% more torque and about 33% more speed than 36V.

The theoretical cradle to grave lifespan of a 48V-170AH battery pack and a 36V-225AH battery pack is the same if the cart is driven the same and charged the same.

Bottom line: It might cost a few dollars more to go to 48V, but you'll be glad that you did.

seeing as you are upgrading the drive system anyway (new controller, etc..) and its time for new batteries....the jump to 48v is a TOTAL NO BRAINER!! its the absolute best upgrade there is.

I converted my 36v marathon to 48v, I agreed with the others above, Do It!. I never looked back, and can't think of a single complaint/drawback.

While we are all in agreement that 48 volt is better than 36 volt, I was amazed to find recently that Star DOES still make a 36 volt cart.

And if you go 48 volt and leave the 36 volt motor. You won't be able to wipe the smile off your face

Unless your stock 36v motor is a 12 mph slug.....but yes, I did use a stock 36v Freedom (18-19 mph series motor).
