Brake Light Kit Pad Modifications
I have a brake light pad installed on my TXT like the one below.
Ive had it for about two weeks now and am less than pleased with this as the solution to brake lights. I know they also make a brake pedal with the pressure switch integrated but can't find it for less thna $200 which is way more than I am willing to spend on something like this. My question is - has anyone modified the brake pads like this that surface mount to the brake to be more sensitive or easier to push? I assume inside the black rubber is a roundish pad with a spring loaded pressure activated switch. What I have found is that I have to hit it in the right spot and with significant pressure to activate the light. It definitely is not as sensitive as a car's which is activated with the lightest of movement to the brake pedal. Id just like to know that when I put my foot on the brake its activating the lights. |

Re: Brake Light Kit Pad Modifications
For the easyness and money spent I like my tried trued 1949 chevy truck brake switch mod. You can't get any cheaper and it's way better than anything I have seen so far and it's water proof!
I've installed I don't know how many on carts. If you mount it right it will come on with the slightest amount of pedal movement. I also add a second contactor to the cart that is activated by the key switch so that when I have the park brake applied and turn the cart off it kills all power to the accessaries in the cart. This way I don't have to remember if I turned everything off. It mounts under the cart with a self tap screw. |

Re: Brake Light Kit Pad Modifications
IMHO, nothing is easier than to use a motorcycle brake switch under the brake pedal, I did it on several carts...
Just a bit less than 2$... |

That's what I'm going to do to my cart as soon as this ##$%##%$@^@!! snow stops. I've got the switch, but I don't want to trailer my cart in the road slop. My buddy has a lift I can use to make it easier. I had a pad switch just like the one above. It didn't last an hour. The first one lasted a week.

Re: Brake Light Kit Pad Modifications
It will always depends of the cart, I installed it on a G15-A Yamaha, but there is always a way to find a fixed part on one side and the pedal on the other side.
I made a small plate bent in L with a hole to hold (and adjust) the switch and bolted somewhere and the spring hooked on the pedal. Perhaps did I made a small hole on the pedal to secure it nicely. It is under the floor, but up the frame so nothing is visible... And as far as it is for bikes, no trouble with water. Simple, cheap, reliable; it works for years now! |

Re: Brake Light Kit Pad Modifications
Thanks. Ill figure it out Im sure. If nothing available to mount to, Ill fab a quick bracket and install under the cart.
Was thinking it through tho, wouldn't that mean brake lights are on the entire time the cart is in garage with parking brake on? My cart lights (turn signals and brakes) are always able to be activated even with key out. |
