EZGO will not go!
I have a 98 EZGO TXT. Was driving fine, then going up a hill one day I heard a pop and smelled electrical burn and the cart has not moved since. Replaced the controller, because I initially thought it was the source of the smell and it had something loose inside the case. Tested the motor and it still runs when you run power directly to it. 6V on the batteries. Solenoid clicks, but no movement. I have 28V between the M- and B- when the throttle is depressed, with little change in voltage. I am at my wits end.. Please help! I am new to forums, so thanks in advance!

Re: EZGO will not go!
Need some more information here. What system is your cart?
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...en-system.html What is the battery pack voltage? You said 6 volts on the batteries, but a fully charged 6 volt battery should read 6.37 volts. If your batteries read 6 volts, that's actually less than 50% charged. I'm assuming this is a 36 volt cart, so your battery pack voltage (if your batteries are fully charged) should read 38.20 volts. This reading should be taken 12-24 hours after the charge cycle. |

Hey there. It is a Series cart, with the F-R lever. I actually have it on charge now. I checked the battery water before I installed the controller just today.

Re: EZGO will not go!
Okay, after the charger shuts off, wait about 12 hours and take a reading of your battery pack voltage, if your batteries are in good condition, it should read 38.2 volts. Once you establish your batteries aren't the problem, you can move on to further testing. Also, a potential problem area is the 4 wire Molex plug that connects the throttle box cable to the wiring harness, corrosion can cause intermittent problems. Two wires are for the throttle micro switch, and two are for the ITS. Try unplugging and replugging the connector. Try spraying contact cleaner and repeat if necessary. You can also just eliminate the Molex connector and just solder and heat shrink the connections.

Re: EZGO will not go!
A pop and a smell? I’d check the f/r. Look for obvious signs of arcing , etc on the high amp cable’s that connect to it. For that matter, check all of your high amp cables. If you look at the f/r switch, there are also copper lugs in there that make contact when the switch is rotated to forward or reverse. The lugs can get worn down or the whole mechanism can get out of alignment.

Re: EZGO will not go!
Or the center nut could be loose, either due to years of use, or possibly a previous owner loosening it for "ease of use".
