PDS ITS Question
Hey All! Name here is Jon and I used to have an account on here but can’t seem to get back into it. My username was E-Z-GoingJon.
I have in my possession a PDS car that I picked up cheap. Unfortunately we had record breaking rain here in KS last month and my cart, along with a lot of other things, were in that flood. I’m pretty confident that I got it out of the water before it got to the controller, but like a bone head I completely forgot about the pedal box. I know I need a new switch due to being submerged in water for about 2 weeks and the ITS sensor was so corroded that one of the terminals fell off. My question is this. When I push the pedal down the switch closes and I get continuity through it but I get no click from the solenoid. Would this be caused by the bad and removed ITS sensor? I didn’t know if the controller was seeing that it wasn’t there and not doing anything. I figured this would be a start before I do end up replacing the controller. I have done all the other tests like the F/R switch and charger reed switch and that’s all good. Just looking for some insight. Thanks y’all!! Jon |

Re: PDS ITS Question
since the pedal box was underwater (got REALLY wet) something else that did and could be corroded is the molex connector that is between the pedal box and the solenoid. take it apart and clean it and or replace it with spade connectors OR even hardwire it. then check the continuity of each wire. (there are 4)

Re: PDS ITS Question
Are you talking about the molex that plugs into the controller? It doesn’t plug into the solenoid.

Re: PDS ITS Question
I think JohnnyB said PDS carts don't have Molex connectors, but just in case it's a year thing I misunderstood, it's a four wire connector between the cable from the throttle box and the wiring harness, pictured here:

Re: PDS ITS Question
Thanks for the picture. Mine plugs directly into the controller.

Re: PDS ITS Question
But will an open or failed ITS sensor cause the controller to not engage the solenoid?

Re: PDS ITS Question
I've tried. Maybe 10% sticks, on a good day. I save pics of stuff that I see a lot, like Molex. This is one of the first things I used to push, since mine had it since nearly day one, almost ten years ago. I think I only learned about it being a series thing this year. It kinda makes sense, as series carts get a signal from key switch, while SepEx carts all four go to, come from, the controller.
