Letting foot off accelerator automatically engages brakes in full
2017 Club Car Precedent. All of sudden, when I take my foot off the accelerator to move to the brake, the moment i remove my foot from accelerator the brakes engage automatically at 100% so i skid forward as if i all of the sudden pushed the parking brake in while driving. Also, if i let off the accelerator very slowly and move over to touch the brake, once i just touch the brake, the brakes engage at 100% and i skid and come to a stop. It is very dangerous and scary. Any ideas what could be wrong? I have video if anyone wants to see it to help.

I would jack it up, inspect the pedal, linkage, cables, and then if nothing out the ordinary is found, remove the wheels and drums and inspect the shoes. You may have a piece of broken hardware causing this.

What Nole said.
This is highly unusual for a Club Car. I would like to see the video. |

Check for loose U bolts on the springs. I had one last week like that. Especially if it's lifted the brake cables are already tight as banjo strings, and if that axle rolls the slightest little bit it will pull that brake cable and lock up the brakes.

i jacked it up and did not find any broken hardware wedged anywhere. The brakes are tight but not overly tight.

Re: Letting foot off accelerator automatically engages brakes in full
Did You check/re-tightened the U-bolts like mgray70 suggested?
That would definitely cause the issue You are experiencing if the axle is shifting with the cart's change in momentum. |
