Default Shorten steering column on a DS

I did a search and learned that a 2" shorter column from a limo can be purchased and installed pretty easily.

https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/p...r-limo-1017313

I also know that someone on here a while back posted that they cut and sleeved their OEM column, but I don't remember who it was.

Have any of you done the cut/weld method? Any other methods?

One of my issues is that the steering wheel I want to use is a NASCAR style wheel and has a fairly significant dish to it, and I'd rather not have to hold it like a praying mantis.

For under $100 I think it would be easier to just buy the limo on and be done with it :)

haha had to laugh at the praying mantis reference.
It reminded me of the Rat Fink character Ed Roth drew with the shifter above his head.

But that's only 3"...not sure if that's enough.

The whole steering column comes out with like 2 bolts and the bolt on the rag joint. I’d just measure how much shorter you need. Pull it out, cut a section out of it and weld it back together. Then use a pipe cutter or hack saw to shorten the sleeve.

I’ve got an entire spare column around here somewhere if you could use it. That way if you screw it up you still have the original. Not sure what shipping would cost but I’ll make you a great deal

Or I could shorten it for you and you just bolt it in if you’re not comfortable doing it yourself

Trust me-I am all about doing whatever I can myself! I hate paying people for stuff that I can do (or maybe even think I can do!)! But this is one of this things that I see taking way too much time and then not coming out right (if I did it!) in the end. I am firmly in the "buy it" camp on this one!

But you can’t buy it. Limo is only 2” shorter; I want more off.
