Big tires in the back
Is there any benefit or downside to having the rear tires be taller than the front ones? I’ve seen where the rear tires are taller and wider and the front tires are a little shorter and narrower. Just wondering if there is any benefit or if it is just for looks.

Re: Big tires in the back
I suppose you could put longer spring shackles on the back to allow larger dimeter tires for better ground speed, without going to the trouble or expense of a lift kit for the front. Would probably hurt braking & handling with the change in weight distribution though.

Re: Big tires in the back
A slight rear lift or sag isn’t going to change the weight distribution any measurable amount.
Try putting a scale under the wheels at one end and jacking them other end up three inches and see for yourself. The big’n’littles thing can be just an old school hot rod look or a practical matter. I’ve bolted the wheels & tires off my zero-turn mower onto the rear of my cart just for traction on some gnarly areas of my property. |
