Default Precedent with Alltrax - Suddenly Slow

I have a 2014 Precedent with an Alltrax XCT400 on it that I'm helping a friend work on. The cart used to run pretty quick but suddenly it's very slow, occasionally it barely makes it home. My friend claims he can turn the key off then back on and it'll run again but still slowly. Here's what I've checked so far but nothing is standing out...

- hooked it up to the Alltrax Toolkit and I get no errors in the monitor
- replaced the speed sensor with a spare here and no change
- Load tested the batteries, all check out
- checked total pack voltage and it looks good
- MCOR doesn't seem to be the issue

Attached are Alltrax screenshots. It has a high speed motor on it too. What am I missing?

Pack voltage shows 49.9V on the third screen shot.
What's the actual pack voltage?
Did you test the voltage of the pack while the cart is in operation?
If not, you need to check that, and check the voltage of each battery individually.

Should the RPM monitor be blank?

Wouldn’t a load test accomplish the same thing?

All of the batteries tested at 8.5V

A load tester doesn’t always reveal a bad battery. Typically a load tester runs for 3-5 seconds, while read the cart applies nearly the same load on the battery for the entire time it’s operating. The best load tester for a golf cart battery is the cart itself. Checking voltage on each battery while the cart is in operation is the best way to determine if one or more batteries are not holding up.

Make sure it’s fully charged, run the cart until it gets slow, then start checking battery voltage of each battery while the cart is driving.
Check the cables for loose or bad connections. See if any are hot. A hot cable is one that has a bad connection and needs to be cleaned/tightened or replaced.
Check to see if the solenoid is hot. If it’s hot the connections may not be tight, cables incorrectly placed on the posts, or the contacts inside may be damaged.

Is the motor hot after a run? Internal damage in the motor would be the last thing to check. But it usually requires the motor be removed and taken apart.

I’ll check all of that. It’s like the cart is in limp mode or something.

You didn't mention how old the batteries were. But, I had a member's cart in which all batteries read 8.46-8.48V. The cart could go no more than 400yds. Tested batteries with a hydrometer and not one cell would even lift the float. The hydrometer is the true test for batteries. The batteries had voltage but could produce no power. Upgraded cart with lithium pack.

They are US Batteries from 2019.

I have some extra batteries here so I’m going to throw them in and see what happens. I’m traveling until late week so I’ll report back on if that helps.
