Default Changing my 87 CLub car batteries from 36 to 48?

Ok all you pros, so time is reaching and you all said I should do it when i need new batteries. So I just want to confirm this is gonna be ok and also ANY suggestions of what else I should buy when i do this. I have the 5 solenoid 87 club car, and I am going to be getting the batteries to run 48v, to im going to get 6, 8V batteries i guess.

Everyone said to just make the swap, just need to get a new battery meter which i ordered, and I just ordered a new 48v charger. ANYTHING else you guys think I need? I am honestly just looking to get a solid 15 to 18 mph out of the cart when loaded, nothing more as its perfect for what I use it for even when it was doing 13 to 15 mph all this time. Please any suggestions, even though everyone said it should be easy just let me know.

Apparently not yet.

I would rather a solenoid coil cart expert reply, but while you're waiting, my concern would be all of your solenoids are 36 volt. I'm not sure they could handle the 48 to 50 volts applied to them.

Maybe they can but let's wait and see what others say.

Ever look at 36 volt lithiums? They might give you what you want and more. But since you already bought a charger, this is probably moot.

I was thinking same thing and just kept it 36V with Sam’s Club Duracells.

If this thread would have received a few replies, I may have swapped to 48V.

Yeah thats my old thread, the guy has the batteries for me and someone did say they knew someone that did it. I mean i hate being a guinea pig, but the idea of just getting more miles and a tad more speed I just think sounds a ok for me.

I have never done this, but like Tom said you should change the solenoids.

Let us know how this turns out. I hear this will make a 36 volt motor come alive.

Do they even make 48v solenoids for this cart?

You could figure a way to reduce the voltage on the solenoid coils and use the ones you have. Measure the resistance of the solenoid coils and install a series resistor on each one to drop the voltage from 48V to 36V. The series resistor will probably have to be a 10W.

Yes. Not made just for that cart, but the ones that look just like those that are 48v.

Any recommendations on where to get them, any good deals or brands you heard of?
