Club Car Ds running at half speed
I have a 2010 Club Car ds. All of a sudden it will only run 14mph when it has always run 25-27mph. The batteries are good. Any Thoughts? it gets right up to speed but wont go over 14.
MCOR was replaced a week or two ago. im thinking speed sensor or controller. Thanks in advance- Larry |

Check the speed sensor first. It's probably designed to go into a Limp Mode if the controller doesn't see anything from the speed sensor.

Re: Club Car Ds running at half speed
Out of town but will check both on return. . I replaced the solenoid a couple weeks ago but possible its gone bad. What is the function of the resistor that connects between the two main posts on the solenoid?
It accelerates rapidly goes to 16mph then throttles back to 14 |

Re: Club Car Ds running at half speed
perfect thanks. Cart has one odd characteristic it does that may lead someone to helping solve this. When the cart has been off for a day or two, when I turn key to "on" and press cart to reverse the reverse buzzer does not come on. I can press accelerator and nothing hapens on first press or two. Then the buzzer will come on and the battery light comes on for a few seconds then goes off. Only does it after cart has sat idle for a while.

Re: Club Car Ds running at half speed
Ok an update. Replaced the speed sensor, simple enough job. The cart now will go 18mph using gps ap on phone. It previously went 25-27. So its better but still 7-9 mph slower than it always was before. Any ideas?

Re: Club Car Ds running at half speed
Did you check the magnet closely when you changed the speed sensor? I have never found a bad speed sensor but have found several broken magnets that caused your problem. One magnet was in 6 pieces all still clinging to the 1/4-20 mounting screw. But the cart would run slow and erratic. Cracked magnets can cause this. Worth a look. Just another thought.

Re: Club Car Ds running at half speed
Magnet I took out looks fine. No Cracks.
Does the Speed Sensor act a govenor to keep speed below a certain mph? When I first accelerate, I have lith ion batteries- so it takes off very fast, it will get to 19mph and I can feel it pull back to 17-18 mph. If it is a govener is there a way to bypass it for more speed? |
