Default Replaced key with keypad and a code!

I removed my normal key, and replaced it with a keypad to turn the cart on and off. Once you enter the correct code, it turns on like normal. When done driving, just flip the toggle switch down and it shuts off.

Only about $25 in parts: Toggle switch, leds, keypad, Arduino nano, relay board, 3D printed mounting plate.

Nice idea but I would worry about reliability. Looks like more electronics to go bad. Nice clean installation!

Yep. We will see how long it lasts. Hard to be a mechanical key switch that has been in my cart for 10 years. It is garage kept, so that should help.

Looks like you could order a pizza straight from the cart!
Is the code the number to Papa Johns?
J/k, I like the idea, my biggest concern with that would be if water gets on/in it.

With that username, I'm sure he knows his way around a PCB, cool concept, make "borrowers" scratch their head.

Post the code to GitHub. :D

As well, you can put that whole setup in an IP67 case easily to make it water and dust resistant if you want. Not hard.

very cool! Very clean setup!!!!

Garage kept, it 'should' last, but i'd order a spare just encase years from now it goes bad and you want to replace it, you'll have one that fits.
