Default 48 volt motor on a 36 volt golf cart

can you run a 48 volt series motor on a 36 volt series golf cart?
I am curious if you can replace a worn out 36 volt motor with a stock 48 volt motor.
I know I could convert the golf cart but I don't want to do that at this time.
can a guy just put that 48 volt motor that I already have in a 36 volt golf cart?
will it just run slower or will it not work?

It will spin but won’t run correctly. It is designed to run at 48 volts at a certain rpm. If it is below that it will run warmer always trying to reach that speed.

Not true. It will run just fine but your top speed may suffer. You can also run a 36V motor on a 48V cart.

Not a replay but a question
I have a 1994 CC DS 36 volt with a 36 - 48 volt controller and 48 volt motor can I just replace solenoid to 400 amp 48 volt and replace batteries w/48 volt and get 48 volt charger and change the crow foot from the 36 volt charger to 48 volt charger and just use the load wire and ground wire from charger the
reason being I have the 48 volt batteries just one year
thanks
