Curtis controller 36v wiring

Hello all,
I have a club car DS ( unsure of the year ) that was stored with a local golf cart shop while my aunt and uncle were back home in Canada. Very long story short my controller was switched out (handed back to me not even installed in cart) and it wasn’t the controller that was replaced a few years back. I bought a new refurbished controller from a reputable golf cart shop locally and installed it to the best of my ability using the closest club car diagram I could fine. The cart drives forward and reverse but it seems to go faster in reverse? Also while you hit the pedal the volt gauge goes all the way almost to zero and doesn’t seem to have the speed my resistor cart has. Any ideas or possible upgrades I can do to fix this ? I was looking into a lithium kit but $$$$$ Thank you, Josh! The ez-go pictured is the cart they tried to give me because they thought I was buying this cart sight unseen.
