Default 2006 Electric Precedent jerky at low speed

Just picked up a run down 2006 Precedent. Got batteries to test it out and it runs pretty fast, goes into forward and reverse fine, and drives smooth at fast speeds. But at low speeds, the motor hits and stops and feels very jerky. It's not the tires because it will start doing it before the cart starts rolling. Also I have to press the pedal really far down before it even starts going.

Is water intrusion an issue in any components? I spent an hour or more power washing all the dirt off. Any other ideas what it might be?

Sounds like MCOR (its located under the pedal assembly) issue. Not sure how to test if it's bad without a monitoring capable controller like alltrax, but maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in.

In the meantime, search for "jerky" posts and see if there are similarities.

Could be batteries. Were they new batteries that you installed?

No, they're marine (trolling motor) deep cycle batteries and all were fairly new and 100% charged up when I tested it.

Yeah I've searched a bit for "jerky" posts and can't find much on the electric side. I did read reviews on mcor on amazon and it does seem like some of the people replacing their mcor units had similar issues.

With the key off, press the accelerator 30-40 times really fast all the way up and down, then turn on the key and if it's gone, replace the MCOR with a OEM model.

I would stick with golf cart batteries, but other than that... exactly what basshawk said lol.

Put 4 brand new Trojans in today - no change

Got an MCOR at a local cart shop - no change

I'm sure the MCOR was aftermarket - it was $60

I'm really at a loss here

I should mention the problem happens in fwd and reverse.

Maybe a solenoid?

Should also mention this cart sat unused for the last couple years so I'm not sure if that makes certain parts fail

Did anyone ever figure out what was causing this? I have a similar situation going on.

Did you do any of the above testing yet?
