1997 Club Car DS Regen 1 to IQ & Lithium Conversion Question
Picked up a beautiful 1997 DS Regen 1 for $400 and I'm looking to do a full IQ and Lithium conversion.
I completely stripped out the old wiring harness, OBC, solenoids, potentiometer, and the T-shaped controller. My question is... am I missing anything in my parts list below? Also, which throttle option is the best, and will my stock regen 1 motor be safe with this configuration? Revolution Golf Carts - Aftermarket IQ Conversion Kit - For All 36V/48V Series Club Car DS Navitas TSX3.0 36V/48V 440A Controller W/Bluetooth - (IQ harness) 400 Amp Super Duty Solenoid 48v 72ha lithium ecobattery kit Thanks! |

If you are doing all of that, I would consider going with AC drive.

Re: 1997 Club Car DS Regen 1 to IQ & Lithium Conversion Question
If your cart is a regen 1 I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want the “series” iq conversion kit. But David would be able to correct that when you talk to him.

Yea that is what I was unsure of. It looks like his regen to IQ kit includes the OBC but since I'm going lithium I wouldn't need that. Maybe I'm wrong?

Easiest thing you can do is just call him. He can set you up with what you need and none of the extra stuff you don’t.

Re: 1997 Club Car DS Regen 1 to IQ & Lithium Conversion Question
A regen one to IQ conversion will be similar to doing a Series to IQ conversion.
Mostly you need the wire harness, tow run switch, controller, and some sort of throttle device. You can use the existing Multi-step pot pie wedge, but it typically doesn't have smooth response when used with an aftermarket controller. Some people have replaced the resistors in them with different values and moved the wiring around to make the resolution better and give a smoother response, but it can only get so good when there can really only be a maximum of about 10 different resistance "steps" as the throttle changes. Most people opt for an MCOR4 conversion to give a cleaner throttle signal to the controller. Like CP said, Actually Call and talk to David and he can set you up with everything you need for the conversion. You don't need an OBC, so just take that off your list and spend the $400 on other goodies. |

Sometimes you can accomplish ten times the amount of information in a 5 minute phone call than you can a 47 page thread here.
