Default Kew Switch

Hi Everyone. We've had 3 golf carts stolen from our community in the past 90 days. It appears that the thief just drives them away. Being that the keys and switch are "generic" anyone can get a key. So with that said what different key/switch assemblies are available that has a unique key? What are other members using to lock up/disable their cart?

I’ve used ATV key switches. That’s actually what I have on my DS now even. Most electric carts are only 2 poles to the switch. On or off. So a simple 2 wire switch is all you need.

That said because it’s so simple it can easily be bypassed with a paper clip or scotch lock.

A better solution is to use an ATV/motorcycle alarm. They’re easy to hook up, have a tilt sensor if someone tries to put it on a trailer, can be wired to go off if someone lifts the seat and disables the key switch from getting power at all when it’s armed. They’re less than a hundred bucks for the dei/viper system on Amazon or any car audio shop can install them if you’re not comfortable doing it yourself.

A hidden disable switch is a very good option. Easy to do and not easy for a thief to figure out quickly. They don't want to spend any time getting a cart running if they can't just jump in and go. Key switch is easy to bypass but you do have to get access to the wires to bypass it. (takes time)

And this is the least expensive option by far!
