Navitas OTF controller - is it worth installing this?
So it took me a while to work out all the kinks with my Navitas 5KW controller and motor and now I finally have the awesome performance that I was hoping for.
I still have my OTF controller but didn’t bother installing this when I fitted the motor and controller as I knew I could adjust all the settings in the app. However, I now have my accelerator setting at 50% as anything more would be a little scary with standard sized Club Car wheels - I can probably learn to deal with 100% with gentle throttle work, but my wife and daughter also both sometimes use the cart. My question is a very basic one. With acceleration dialled down to 50%, will this limit my torque on steep hills? If it does then I may consider fitting the OTF controller so I can adjust this on the go when I hit a steep hill. |

Plug it in, drive the hills you're concerned about and try different settings, let the seat of your pants be the judge. Just set it on the seat or dash until you decide. OTF seems to be more of a convenience feature if you think you'll be adjusting frequently.

Re: Navitas OTF controller - is it worth installing this?
My question was whether the acceleration setting affects torque on a steep hill. Am I going to climb the hill more easily with a higher acceleration setting? If not I can't see myself needing to adjust acceleration "on the fly".
My controller compartment is packed in quite tightly and I don't want to remove all the batteries and crack this open (and do the same again to remove the controller) unless it will make a difference. Many thanks. |
