NOthing should be grounded to the frame on an electric cart!

LOL you got that right! This is the first cart I ever worked on and the charger was hacked, then the lights and I am sure the deeper I get on this thing I will find other lovely mysteries!

I don't see a problem with grounding a seperate 12v battery to the frame, but you should never ground the main pack to the frame.
