Golf cart with 4 batteries of 12v
Dear group
I am new here and I just bought a used golf cart. Its 2005 club precedent with 4 batteries. I think one battery needs to be replaced because it has low voltage. These 12v batteries that came with(interstate 12v) are expensive like $300 each. So my question is If instead buying 1 battery for $300, Can I buy 4 new deep cycle marine batteries on advanceautoparts or autozone? I saw this one for $126 AutoCraft Marine / RV 12-Volt Deep Cycle Battery, Group Size 29HM, 675 CCA Has anybody done that? Does anybody knows what happen if I do that or if will work? Thank you everybody in advance. |

don't waste your time and money , go find a trojan dealer and get the right batteries. the money you spend on good batteries and proper maintence will be rewarded with trouble free years enjoyment. a properly maintained set of good batteries will last 5 to 8 years depending on use and how well they are kept

Buy six 8v batteries. Will be cheaper. And your posting in the ezgo section. Find you a volume golf car dealer and get a way better price.

Do not replace one battery in an old pack. Replace ALL of them. Otherwise you are wasting your money. It is important that all of the batteries are of similar age since we charge and discharge them in series.

Re: Golf cart with 4 batteries of 12v
Also have you tried charging the low battery individually with a 12V charger to balance the voltage acorss all the batteries?

Re: Golf cart with 4 batteries of 12v
Thank you All for the answers. I am glad I asked before. I really don't want to waste my time and money $$.
I call this battery warehouse and they quote me: Trojan 1275 12v - $248 Crown 155ah 12v - $240 Crown 150ah 12v - $229 They said I can't convert to 6x8v batteries because there is no space. My golf cart have all the controller/board in the middle, so it is going to be very hard to do this change. I did not try to charge the low battery individually. I don't know how to do that. is that something easy? Do I have to disconnect the other 3 batteries and connect the charger to golf cart? well, I don't know If I will replace them all at this time. Its a lot money. I think I will buy only 1 or 2 trojan battery now and next year buy the others. what you guys think of that? Thank you very much group ! |

Re: Golf cart with 4 batteries of 12v
there is a write up in the stickies on how to convert from 4-12's to 6-8's. I did it to my 2006 precedent, and am very glad I did.

Re: Golf cart with 4 batteries of 12v
DO NOT BUY JUST ONE OR TWO BATTERIES !!!!
That too is a huge waste of money... The new batteries will endure heavy charging in effort to charge the older batteries... In short order they will be no better than the best of the worst battery remaining in the group.... Used batteries of a similar age and size are a better choice if you must conserve money... |
