Anyone know what 8:1 gears speed would be? Spent $1100.00 thought I would get at least 25 mph on this set up

1. Actual height can be plus/minus and inch or more from those numbers. Measure the height with a yardsitck.
Also, what is the max inflation pressure embossed on the sidewalls?

2. Which Curtis controller? Curtis makes several 48V sepex controllers and some of the limit the motor to about 4400RPM. (Which is 24 MPH on 23" tires)

1. If you are only getting 20 MPH with 23" tires, your motor is only spinning at about 3650RPM, which would mathematically be about 31 MPH with 8:1 gears, however, high-speed motors, tall tires and high-speed gears don't play well together and it may end up being slower than it is now because just the combination of 23" tires and 8:1 gears is a 99% reduction in the available torque, then you toss in the 20% less than stock torque of some high-speed motors and you have a cart with very little acceleration that may slow to a standstill on the slightest incline.

Here is a thread about 8:1 gears in a PDS cart: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...tml#post658807
He called his D&D ES-76-51 motor a high-speed motor, but it actually isn't. It is more correctly identified as a standard speed, high-torque motor.
He gets over 40 MPH with 48V, 8:1 gears and 20" tires. (He has 4 wheel disk brakes stopping it)
Using the same make/model motor I get 28 MPH with a 42V battery pack, stock (12.44:1) gears and 17" tall tires.

2. Does the $1100 only include motor and controller?

Unfortunately, you may have selected the wrong components for your upgrade.
