Default OK, got it running (TXT), but has no power

So, y'all might recall my thread about my TXT not going at all, and how I needed to take it out of town soon...

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...0-minutes.html

Today, I discovered a wire (green) near the f/r switch that had rusted out and broken. I rewired it and the cart will go. In F. In R, it won't push on the slightest uphill grade. Also, as soon as I connected the wires, the battery meter (not voltmeter) on the dash went from 1 bar down to 4 bars down. I've been charging it for 2 hours, and the charger, the part of the charger that you put into the cart, and the extension cord are all hot. Not smoking, smoldering, or too hot to touch, but definitely hot. Probably 115 degrees F. What is goign on with this cart?

Sounds like the pack was way low. Let it charge. It will take that lying meter a while to catch up. Get a regular volt meter and check the battery pack about 12 hours after the charger has cut off.

Gotcha. I didn't know that the meter should be named Hillary. A volt meter was my next purchase once I actually got it running again. Thanks for the info!

I would buy a volt meter now. Go To Walmart AND PICKNONE out. There handy for more thsn golf carts. Useful in home electrical as well. And necessary for trouble shooting on parts auto and boat.

The TXT has contacts in the receptacle that wear out after so many hundreds or thousands of charges. When worn they don't fit tight and this causes heat to build up. When they get real bad you can hold the plug handle up while plugged in and watch the charger come on or off. Replace the 'rad sok' ends.

Sorry, misunderstanding. Thought I read you didn't have a DVM.
