Ezgo txt pds rear end issue
Got one thats kind of stumping me here on my buddies 2007 pds.
A few weeks ago the drivers side back wheel started to make a slight griding noise. Naturally I thought worn hub so we got the tire off pulled the hub and it looks just fine, checked the other just in case looks fine. Put the hub back on tried to spin the wheels and nothing catches wheel wont spin but the hub is not stripped. Loosened the castle nut a bit and tried again, spins with no tire on but not at the same speed as the passenger side wheel and very slowly when the tire is put back on. Next thought the brake may be dragging so adjusted the star and pads, a little noise and the wheel now turns but still not to the extent it should. I dont think it a bearing issue but I may be wrong, could it just be a bad hub regardless if it isnt stripped? Maybe you guys may have another idea for me to look at as well. Thanks all! |

Re: Ezgo txt pds rear end issue
There are splines on both ends of each rear axle. The splines that go into the differential gear cluster might be stripped, or an axle might be sheared.
Also, the splines on the motor shaft to the differential input shaft might be stripped. |

Re: Ezgo txt pds rear end issue
would checking the motor splines be pretty straight forward? just unbolt and pull out? anything to be cautious of? is this a one or two person job?

Motor weighs about 50 pounds, so two people would be best. I use a chain hoist and make a cradle out of rope when I R&R my motor. |
