Default Forward or Reverse only

Cart failed to back out of the cart shed . Placed it in forward and had power. Back into reverse and nothing.

I have a 2006 EZ GO TXT with a GE 5HP motor, Altrax 400NPX controller, HD solenoid, 2 AWG wiring throughout entire cart.

I have not had any trouble until recently, when it didn't go when switching the FNR. a little playing withj the handle made contact and went on normally.

I tested voltage to each post on the FNR switch and got 38.6V. To the motor and got 37.2V on each post . Micro switches had 38.2V when in forward and reverse. Have continuity between microswitches.

Cart has reverse up when wired with B to motor S1 but no forward, and will go forward when wiring at B and D to motor S1 is switched, but no reverse.

All connections are tight and no signs of burned wires. A week ago the cart smelled hot like something was overheating. I checked under the seat and found nothing

Next?

I replaced the FNR switch with a HD rebuilt one and same problem. I tightened the center 9/16" nut tight and backed it off 1/2 turn. No change

My guess is the F&R got too hot and the contacts sunk in the plastic housing.
Post a pic of the cables bolted to the terminals if you can. Otherwise look for any signs of heat, all 4 terminals and cable lugs should be the same color.

If that fails to shine a light on the trouble remove the center pivot shaft and post pics of the 4 cam contacts and the 4 housing contacts so we can see wht you have there.

I will do that, but I have a different FNR switch in now and am having the same problem.

I did cbriefly check the contact on the one I removed and didn't notice any problem, but I will take it apart

Okay - I was concentrating on the burning smell being the problem...lets back up... When you try to go does the solenoid click? Does the controller LED flash?

Yes the solenoid clicks when in either F or R and the LED flashes. I thought maybe a wire had lossened and caused the smell but all were tight

I'll check that in a few minutes. Heading out to play in a league tonight. Will check and report when I get home.

Back from golf. The control flash does blink green 4 times and then go solid. Haven't seen what the LED does at full throttle. Will check it tomorrow
