Yeah........several years ago I had hot and cold running wenches I was interviewing for.......then the wife walked into the garage and suddenly I lost half of what I owned......

But seriously.....the problem with mounting a winch to the front of your EZ-GO is that you need to connect it to the frame. And it's tough to do this without a "bar" that strattles the front of the cart.....and also....so this "bar" doesn't shift up and down, you really need 2 bars that are connected together (welded together). So....at this point what you really have is a "brush guard." I suppose if you have a welder, you could toss one together, but I can't weld. My nephew can weld as he went to school for that.....but he's 22 years old and his hobby is, like mine was when I was 22 and single....chasing women. So, I can never find him.

BTW.....here is a pic of how my first winch was attached to my first "brush guard" on my cart. The brush guard was made with "silly putty" steel and I replaced it with real steel later. The winch was attached with simple angle iron and worked fine.....but was a PITA to mount or remove.

In fact....here is what my "new" brush guard looks like with my winch mounted on it. The brush guard I got from a site sponsor here and it was a bolt on and built very well. Grizzly Metal Works is where I got both my front and rear brush guards from, as well as my "cage" for the cart.

Anyway, here's a pic of the front. Notice Grizzly has two bars going across and this is much better than the old one-across approach.

As for my rear winch, it's mounted on a hitch insert so it's removable if I don't want it.....but it's very useful if I get into those very, very rare situations when I need to go sideways to get out of a bad place, and when I need to haul a large game animal out of some place....and believe it or not....there is a place I go to fish where there is a trail so steep that I have to winch my cart down, and back up in order to get in and out safely. But...here is the rear:

I just bolted a piece of flat steel to the front axle and then bolted the winch to it. The only fabrication involved was drilling the holes. I also had to cut out a slot in the front bumper to make it fit, but I think it looks OK.

I have another cart with a Jakes bumper winch, but I actually like this one better. Its gotten me out of several tight spots.
