How does the charger work? (87 Marathon Resistor)

My 1987 cart came with the original Textron charger. It has three new 12v deep cycle batteries.

When I want to charge it, do I just turn the dial to start and let it go?

Does it shut off on its own at a certain voltage, or does it just go until the timer has elapsed?

Can it overcharge my batteries?

I also have a very nice Schumacher 6/12v charger that will display percentage and volts if that helps, but I'd rather charge them all at once.

Just found some info on Amazon. The charger is a "Total Charge", most likely version I.

It says it will shut off itself when the charge is complete, and the timer is just there to tell you how long it ran.

Is that correct?

The total charge charger will shut off when the pack reaches a preset voltage. The timer is a safety feature - check battery water levels, set it to max time and let it charge.
