Default HD switch is bad after 2 months

A friend let me use one of his heavy duty forward and reverse switches and it worked for 2 months and then it burned out like the original one did. What could be causing this. It's a 36v series cart. It is a heavy duty one compared to my original. The plates are thicker. It's always been very hard to shift but from reading the forum most of the heavy duty are hard to shift. Any help would be appreciated. There are pictures on here of the original switch also.

F&R switch can burn up from excessive amp draw as created by a worn out motor or too big a tire or too slow driving and too small or old a cable set, or too low voltage, or not really HD F&R, BUT especially by any combination of these things. I hope this helps.

Thanks. I've been looking at the rocker switch style f&r switch you have one your site. If I've got upgrading plans in the future will the 202 work for now even though I don't have over 500 amps. I've got the bigger solenoid from you a few weeks back

Absolutely yes. No problem installing a bigger switch than needed. If fact choosing a bigger switch than needed can avoid future problems in some carts. Any cart that is going through F&Rs like candy should have the biggest switch available installed.
