Default Stupid steering wheel question?

Ya'll please correct me if I am wrong, but the knuckle piece still attached to the steering column is part of the OEM wheel. I tried like crazy to get the wheel off and had to cut it and just making sure this is part of it also. I am going to be ordering a new one here soon. Thanks for the help everyone.

Brian

That's the hub out of the middle of your 3 spoke wheel. They're bad about the plastic wheel pulling right off the wheel hub when they're really stuck. That will have to come off the column for a new wheel to go on.

I used a six ton bearing puller to get mine off the shaft...I didn't think it was going to come off and then all of sudden it made this big POP sound and there it was...

Thanks for the post Stan, tomorrow I am going to fire up the torch and add some heat and see if that will work. But soaking in PB blaster and large hammer was an epic fail. Any ideas will help. Thanks

Got a 2 jaw puller?

Crank that baby down on there and heat the part to come off a little with the torch.

Good deal, I will stop by auto zone in town tomorrow. I believe they rent then out or better yet, bring the column and pull it there.

Thanks again!

Every self respecting motor head should have least one.... The one I picked up near 30 years ago can be rigged as a 2 or 3 legged puller....

I know from experience that type of puller will NOT work...there is not enough of a flat surface for the jaws to clamp onto...the jaw type bearing puller worked because you can clamp the jaw down at the base of the hub allowing you to get a good pull.
