1997 Club Car Wiring
I am new to golf carts. My son and I have wanted to start a project. We bought a 1997 Club Car. 48 volts. It does NOT run. Batteries are good and charged, reading 49.9 volts. I have two wires that are loose and I need to figure out where they go back to. I have looked online and found several wiring diagrams, none of which seem to be the correct diagram. This cart we have has two solenoids mounted under the body behind the batteries. No diagram I found has 2 solenoids...any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the diagram. I haven't hooked the charger to them yet. I want to get these two wires repaired before I do anything. I do not want to let any smoke out.
I would assume that over 49 volts would at least move the cart? Hopefully, with the diagram, I can get the wires repaired and start trying to figure out why it doesn't run. Early on I am thinking solenoids. On the one with the large gauge yellow wire I have 48 volts on one pole and about 28 on the other side. It clicks when I press the pedal but the voltage does not change on the side that has 28v. I read on another post that sometimes you will get a voltage reading on that side when it is not engaged, feeding back from resistors? |

that is correct
the solenoid hooked to the coil is reverse 49v will move the cart |

I am going to pick up some alligator clips tomorrow to bench test the solenoids.
And trace out these broke wires. I am sure I will have many more questions, Thanks for all the help so far. |

Ok I removed the body to try to figure out this wiring. It appears it has been modified. F1 and f2 from controller to motor were reversed. The I can says "obc mfd by Lester electrical pn: 27175-03" one solenoid has been bypassed. The controller is a ge 300amp sx motor controller. I see this changes things when it comes to wiring.
Solenoid a engages when pedal is depressed. Nothing else happens. |
